I know that it’s time to schedule an appointment with my colorist when my gray hairs start sticking up and the roots are almost two inches long and I stare pointedly at the mirror before I start plucking the silver or black kinky hairs from my head.
I knew I was destined to have salt and pepper hair when my first “gray hair” was actually a crazy zig zagged black hair that stood at attention from the top of my head. I was in my early twenties, and not excited to see that first of many little bastards appearing…
Of course, I’ve been dying my hair since my glamour shots at age 11 (seriously, if you want a good laugh, go look at the pictures in that post), so I can’t completely tell how much of my hair is covered in gray.
But last night, as I was standing in front of the mirror with my trusty pair of tweezers (I have a plucking problem), I realized it was definitely time to call Katelyn. The shining silver of gray standing straight up every time I flip my hair is more than I can stand!

No joke I found my first grey hair the day after I turned 25. Now those little bastards are breeding like rabbits. Thankfully they all seem to be coming in, in the same area so I’m contemplating letting it grow into a skunk streak when there’s enough of them.

I found my first grey at the age of 12. TWELVE. Common amongst us black-haired Indians, but still. Because my hair is curly, the greys didn’t show. But when i got my hair straightened, the greys were very conspicuous. I use Nice N Easy to cover them. It’s easy to match black hair with drug store dyes, and a lot cheaper!

Gray hair happened early for me too. My hair was already kinky, curly and cranky though so I didn’t have that added surprise!

BUT- those damn silvers don’t hold it long and some just won’t let the color in. I feel ‘skunky’ all the time. I try to play them off as my “silver highlights”… but I don’t think anyone falls for it.

You do NOT have grey hair! Get out! Believe it or not, that’s the one thing I don’t have. Being a blonde does have its perks, although I’m currently dying it brown so when my roots come in they are light and they look like they’re grey from across the room.
Either way, I’m sure you own them.

Oh, I totally have gray hair. You could see crazy roots right now…but soon it will be dyed and all will be well again.
Christmas Eve when I was 22. It wasn’t just one gray, it was several. I’ve since made extremely good friends with a wonderful stylist and a double process color regime.

Worse are gray pubic hairs. There’s no lying when the pubes go gray.

Haha! I have not yet found any gray hairs… My mom and grandmother aren’t very grey so I’m not sure how much I will end up with. I kind of wish my hair would end up white and awesome– like in a long silver braid that I can wear on one side. Katniss Everdeen style. It’s a fantasy I’ve had for quite some time.

I have plenty of gray hair…it makes me look distinguished, though I’m not.
Gray hair also makes Brian look distinguished…which he pretends to be to get girls like me to fall in love with him… 🙂

Go for younger ladies, Twindaddy. They’re used to douchebags with original hair color. Surprise them with a wealth of knowledge (or a pretend wealth of knowledge…you know, whatever you’ve got) and make them laugh. I think that’s how he did it.
