Let’s talk about gun control.
I’m pissed. I’m sick with disgust. And fuck if I don’t need to let a dozen plus F-bombs fly right now.
The right to bear arms does not mean you have to give free reign to anyone in the country with a motherfucking heartbeat.
You need a license to drive a fucking car, and if you screw up, it takes a lot of work, and a lot of money, to get it back.
You need to jump through hoops of fire to adopt children whose parents didn’t want or couldn’t raise them.
Want to buy alcohol? You sure as fuck better have an ID on you, even if you could easily pass for the parent of a 12-year-old.
Need Claritin D at your doctor’s insistence because you are hella allergic to everything? Fuck you. You better sign your life away and hit up the pharmacy once a week to get your fix, because a couple of assholes used it and a shit load of other ingredients to make a drug that only harms THEMSELVES.
Want to travel to Canada? Better get a passport. Oh don’t forget, it takes months to acquire one of these documents.
If you’re planning on rescuing a dog, you better prove you’re going to be able to take care of it and keep it and other people safe.
Want to get on a plane to see your mother, father, aunt or uncle? You better not even think of bringing a bottle of water or a pair of fucking nail clippers with the sharp (and oh so dangerous) file inside it.
Teachers. Aids. Anyone who works with children is required to have a background check.
But guns? Ehhh, let’s just give that shit away. No big deal. What’s the worst that could happen?
- 58 people dead and 515 people wounded at an outdoor Las Vegas concert.
- 49 people dead and 53 people injured in one fell swoop at an LGBT nightclub.
- 14 dead and 22 wounded in San Bernardino, CA.
- 3 dead; 9 injured at Planned Parenthood.
- 9 people killed in a CHURCH.
- 20 children between 6 and 7 years old and 6 adults who dedicated their lives to children dead and two injured adults at an elementary school shooting.
Hate crimes. Terrorism. Mass Shootings. I don’t care what the everliving fuck you call it. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
What? You think it’s okay to throw away someone’s prescription shampoo before boarding a plane, but it’s not okay to make someone get a background check before buying a DEADLY WEAPON?
What the fuck is wrong with our system?
America needs to quit hiding behind laws written two hundred and thirty years ago before automatic weapons had the power to kill multiple fucking people with a single shot. More people died of disease in The Revolutionary War than from gunshot wounds. I doubt that would be the case today. Unless they needed Sudafed.

I couldn’t agree more! It makes me so mad that the freakin’ politicians have the nerve to do this. The Republicans and the NRA are the ones responsible for arming terrorists (foreign or domestic). End of story.
Idiots. All of them.
All of them
“Quit hiding behind laws written two hundred and thirty years ago, before guns had the power to kill multiple fucking people with a single shot.”
THIS. Is an extremely good point right here.
Thank you. When I’m angry, the expletives take on a mind of their own. And they’re pretty smart.
First of all, there WERE guns that could kill multiple fucking people with one shot, 230 years ago. But they were not in common use. Machine guns were banned in 1936, for the most part, and are still not in common use. Semi-auto rifles such as the AR15 are in common use, just as other rifles 230 years ago, and they do not tend to kill multiple people in one shot. That would be interesting… You’d have to have several people lined up and fire a round through them, but a standard bullet would not typically get past the first two. It would fragment and get lodged somewhere probably in the first.. Except for military 5.56 mm with a depleted uranium core, which does not fragment but tends to pass through, causing less damage than ammunition used in the past during the Revolutionary war and Civil War. Idea is to take out two or more combatants by wounding, not killing, so that their buddies evacuate the casualty. Which is interesting to me, as I hear folks talk about “weapons of war” being on the streets.. Regular civilian ammo is actually worse, depending on how you look at it. But still only one round per shot. You claim this post as a good point, but it is garbage. Would you also be against a law written 230 years ago that protects people’s right to peaceably assemble, just because there are more people now? Or against the use of the TV or Internet to persuade opinion, because only ink typeface was in common use 230 years ago?! How about other laws (rights) we “hide” behind? Smh

Are you SERIOUSLY comparing peaceable assembly and TV/internet with guns? Is the phrase ‘false equivalency’ in your vocabulary? If not, I’d Google it right now.
This. All of this. Yes.
Thank you!
Preach!!!
Every day!
Chrissy for Congress.
Maybe one day…
Right on!
Xoxox
Meth hurts a lot of people other than the ones who make it.
That shooter went through a background check.
When those laws were written the citizens were better armed than the military, and able to overthrow the ruling British government… Also people often didn’t have much chance of surviving a gunshot unlike today.
It’s nice you want better gun control, and I completely agree with you. Because what really matters is getting our country to move toward change for the better.
This is everything. My crush on you has reached epic proportions.
Seriously.
Fuck them.
I’m so sick of this shit.
Sorry my comment isn’t particularly eloquent, but I just don’t have the capability to be articulate on this issue anymore. I’m just rage typing.
This whole piece was rage typed! *rage high five*
You remember Mars Attacks?
I don’t care what you say, it was hilarious and underrated.
Anyway, the aliens in that movie just blew congress the fuck up. As in, that was the first thing they did. Well, the second thing. The first thing involved a parade and some cross dressing and then they shot a bird… it’s been a while since I’ve seen the movie.
Anyway, my point is that – while I’m not advocating violence, per se – if there are aliens reading your blog, they should maybe watch that movie, and especially appreciate (President) Jack Nicholson’s classic line, “I want the people to know that they still have 2 out of 3 branches of the government working for them, and that ain’t bad.”
Now, I kinda wanna watch that movie.
Brilliant points here, Chrissy. I tried fostering a DOG and the paperwork was extensive.
Fantastic essay. Submit it somewhere.
Thanks, sugar! An older version of it lives on HuffPo. Been thinking about rewriting it and submitting elsewhere, but someone wrote something similar on McSweeneys this week.
